Dante’s Inferno: Freezing or Burning in Hell, which is worse?

Dante's Inferno: Freezing or Burning in Hell, which is worse?

I read this very unique Epic Poem the other day for World Literature. I was very intrigued by the different types of hell as Dante and Virgil made their way through to Heaven. The two that struck me as interesting was the regular gnashing of teeth hell fire and the other level of hell that threw me for a loop was where Satan resided. A Hell of Ice and a frozen wasteland. The worst hell of all from the perspective of this Epic. Would a place where your frozen in a twisted position forever isolated or in a burning pit ? Just something interesting I had been thinking about from reading this….

  1. Len says:

I think that freezing is associated more with pain at the core, where fire burns the extremities.
